Our Story

Josh and I met in 1st grade at Hart Elementary School.
No, it was not love at first sight. But we did date for one week in 4th grade.
We attended elementary, jr. high, and high school together.
Our lives crossed paths again the summer after our second year of college.
From then on, we were inseparable.

We dated for 3 and 1/2 years before Josh proposed on December 19, 2009 during a rigged family gift exchange.  View the video here.

Six months later, Josh and I were married on June 26, 2010 in Bakersfield, CA!  It was one of the happiest days of my life.

We honeymooned on the island of Cozumel, Mexico. It was a week of pure paradise.

In August 2010 we moved to Newcastle upon Tyne, UK so that Josh could start medical school.  He did extremely well his first year.  And we had a ton of fun traveling around Europe together.

In June 2011, we moved to the 22 mile long island of Grenada in the West Indies for Josh's second year of basic sciences.  I did a lot of volunteer work with the children of Grenada and Josh rocked year two.  We absolutely loved island life.

In May 2012, we moved back to California while Josh studied for and took his USMLE (Step 1) and we waited to find out where we would be placed for year 3 clinical rotations.  In July we found out we would be heading to Redlands in Southern CA for year three!  And Josh began his clinicals in Internal Medicine.
In October 2012, we found out we were expecting our first child, a girl.  Ryan Cathleen was born July 3, 2013 in Redlands, CA right at the tail end of Josh's 3rd year of school.
In March 2014, Josh matched into a preliminary surgery residency at the University of Massachusetts.  He officially graduated from medical school in April 2014.  We made the move to MA that May and Josh began his surgical residency in late June.
In March 2015, we found out that Josh matched into a full time categorical surgical residency program at the University of Massachusetts.  We were thrilled beyond words!  We also found out we were expecting baby #2 in late summer.  Rory Louise was born on August 31, 2015.
The medical life is not for the faint of heart, but we wouldn't trade our experiences for the world.  This journey of life has been full of highs and lows and it's not over yet.  I'm thrilled that you are on it with me as I navigate marriage, motherhood, and a life in medicine.
